Protea

A botanical still life with soft glass, blue-green leaves and a deep pink protea.

I was drawn to the strong shape of the flower and the contrast between its patterned surface and the quieter tones around it. The loose brushwork gives the glass and leaves a soft, shifting quality, while the protea brings a clear point of colour and structure.
