Basil in a glass

A small still life study with fresh green basil, soft blue-grey tones and a simple glass.

I was drawn to the way the basil leaves fall loosely across the rim, creating movement against the quiet structure of the glass. The limited palette and visible brushwork give the piece a calm, understated feeling, with soft shifts of green, shadow and reflected light.
